Uber Japan has entered into a strategic partnership with Dennou Kotsu, integrating its cloud-based taxi dispatch system, “DS,” with the Uber platform. Additionally, Uber will participate in “DS Connect,” a service that links “DS” with other dispatch applications and transportation-related services.
This marks the first time Uber has collaborated with a widely adopted taxi dispatch system in Japan. As a result of this integration, Uber’s service areas will progressively expand nationwide, including regional locations, significantly increasing the number of taxis available for dispatch through the Uber app. This expansion will enable inbound travelers, who frequently use Uber’s globally recognized app, to access transportation services more seamlessly in Japan’s rural areas.
Through integration with Dennou Kotsu’s cloud-based “DS” system, taxi operators and drivers affiliated with Dennou Kotsu across Japan will be able to manage both telephone dispatch requests from their customers and Uber-based ride requests through a single device and interface. Furthermore, Dennou Kotsu will facilitate centralized management of contracts, payments, and other administrative processes between taxi operators and various dispatch applications.
“DS Connect” currently includes participation from major mobility service providers such as the ride-sharing platform “NearMe” and taxi-hailing apps “DiDi” and “S.RIDE.”
