Nihon PMI Partners Co., Ltd. (Headquarters at Shinjuku, Tokyo; CEO, Satoshi Hamada; hereinafter referred to as "Our Company") is pleased to announce that the Regional Medical Revitalization Healthcare Fund (hereinafter referred to as "the Fund"), which is operated by Our Company, has acquired majority shares of Hospitalnet Inc. (hereinafter referred to as "Hospitalnet").
Hospitalnet has established a unique position and a solid business foundation within the healthcare industry, thanks to the exceptional creativity, execution capabilities, and unwavering dedication of its founder, Mr. Murata Saburo. Through his foresight and numerous innovative ideas in solutions for hospital users, Mr. Murata has led the company in delivering groundbreaking services. At the same time, he has demonstrated outstanding leadership by focusing on nurturing the next generation of leaders, identifying Mr. Takeda Toshinobu—now serving as CEO.
In the current transaction, Mr. Murata has made significant contributions toward building a collaborative framework with the Fund and preparing for the realization of a management buyout led by CEO Mr. Takeda, all in pursuit of further growth for Hospitalnet.
Through this share acquisition, the Fund will obtain a majority of the outstanding shares of Hospitalnet. Nevertheless, we will continue to work closely with Mr. Takeda, who will remain as CEO, to ensure the seamless succession of the foundation built by Mr. Murata, while striving to enhance corporate value and promote sustainable growth.
About Hospitalnet
Founded in 2000, Hospitalnet operates from its registered office in Osaka and its headquarters in Tokyo, providing cashless payment solutions and services aimed at improving operational efficiency and user satisfaction for hospitals, clinics, and health screening centers nationwide.
In particular, Hospitalnet specializes in hospital amenity services for inpatients, including TVs, refrigerators, and internet access. Hospitalnet is dedicated to enhancing convenience through their cardtimer products and has established a leading nationwide market share among rental companies that serve hospitals and medical institutions across the country. By offering these amenity-related devices and services, Hospitalnet also contributes to the realization of patient-centered healthcare.
For example, at Hokkaido University Hospital, 900 units of the Switch Card System have been installed to provide daily-rate access to TVs and refrigerators, along with integrated in-hospital Wi-Fi and e-book services. This represents a leading example of advanced, user-friendly hospital amenities.
In addition, Hospitalnet places a strong emphasis on information security. In January 2012, it obtained ISO/IEC 27001 certification (JQA-IM1069) for its information security management system, ensuring service reliability and safety through third-party verification.
Background and Purpose of this Investment
In line with Our Company’s mission to realize inclusive healthcare that leaves no one behind, we have been addressing challenges in regional healthcare and, through this process, identified Hospitalnet’s niche-top position in the hospital amenity sector as a compelling opportunity. After nearly two years of communication and careful examination, we have decided to proceed with this investment.
In this transaction, CEO Mr. Takeda, who has led Hospitalnet’s business to date, will continue to play a central role in management. Building on the Hospitalnet’s strengths, we will work together under a new partnership framework to drive further business development.
Through this share acquisition, we aim to support Hospitalnet’s next phase of growth by leveraging our deep industry experience in healthcare, digital transformation (DX) talent network, and our capabilities in post-merger integration (PMI).
Key initiatives going forward include:
-
Further expansion of nationwide market share through promotion and enhanced functionality of core products
-
Development and implementation of new hospital amenities and related services
-
Creation of cross-sectoral value through strengthened collaboration with medical and care giving facilities
