Pleiades Seven Co., Ltd., the first investment of the Regional Healthcare Revitalization Fund Investment Limited Partnership (hereinafter, the “Fund”) operated by Nihon PMI Partners Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President & CEO: Satoshi Hamada), officially released the cloud version of “Cocolink,” a management DX platform for medical corporations, on April 1, 2023.

■Background to the Development of Cocolink
Japan’s super-aging society continues to change the environment surrounding healthcare. Social security costs in particular keep rising: medical expenses, which were approximately 30 trillion yen in 2000, have recently climbed to 40 trillion yen, and together with long-term care expenses they have grown to more than 50 trillion yen.
With a view to the sustainable development of healthcare, the medical fee revisions held every two years have shifted toward a system that preferentially allocates medical fees to medical institutions that continue to provide higher-quality, more efficient care. Medical corporations are therefore required to improve the quality of care and their management efficiency day by day.
Within medical corporations, however, departments often use different systems, and as a result the data needed for management analysis is scattered across the organization and is often not used effectively to improve management. In addition, restrictions on hospital admissions due to COVID-19 have significantly lowered bed occupancy rates, putting pressure on management. Medical corporations therefore need to promote regional collaboration even further to raise bed occupancy rates and improve their management.
“Cocolink” was born against this background of the “need for greater management efficiency at medical corporations.”

■Service Overview
“Cocolink” is being developed as a one-stop platform that lets executives, administrative directors, and department heads grasp and analyze the information needed for management in real time, shares increasingly complex facility standards and bed control across the entire hospital, and supports management with the participation of all staff.
Its three main functions are introduced below.

1.A management system that can automatically link with the various systems within a medical corporation
By linking with electronic medical records, medical accounting, and rehabilitation systems, it automates facility standards management for each basic inpatient fee and budget-versus-actual management by ward and clinical department, strongly promoting DX in hospital management.

2. Admission consultation management for the regional liaison office
Admission consultations received daily from regional acute care hospitals and home care facilities are managed centrally in “Cocolink,” and requests from the liaison office to physicians for admission decisions are also completed within the same system.

3. Bed control covering future dates
By incorporating patients expected to be admitted—based on planned admissions and discharges in the electronic medical records and on the admission consultation management function—into occupancy forecasts, it enables bed control for future dates.
